Telehealth Physician Jobs in Pennsylvania

Telehealth physician work tied to Pennsylvania (PA). Pennsylvania is an Interstate Medical Licensure Compact member state. Virtual clinics, payer care teams, and health systems hire physicians for video visits, remote triage, and asynchronous care for Pennsylvania patients.

Pennsylvania's hospital systems hire virtual clinicians to extend coverage to community clinics and rural patients far from the major cities.

Pennsylvania is an Interstate Medical Licensure Compact member state and fully implemented the Nurse Licensure Compact on July 7, 2025, which gives nurses a multistate privilege into the state. Commercial coverage arrived with Act 42 of 2024, enacted from SB 739 and approved July 3, 2024: 40 Pa.C.S. section 4803 requires policies to cover medically necessary telemedicine and forbids excluding a service solely because it was delivered remotely, while payment stays in accordance with the terms negotiated between insurer and provider - coverage parity without a rate mandate.

Prescribing here is stricter than in the compact states around it. State Board of Medicine regulations at 49 Pa. Code section 16.92(a)-(b), amended December 21, 2024, withhold a controlled-substance prescription unless the practitioner takes an initial medical history and performs a physical examination that objectively evaluates the heart, lungs and blood pressure. Telehealth may stand in for that first visit only inside an opioid treatment program, and then a full in-person examination is due within 14 days; the federal DEA flexibilities do not displace that state exam requirement. Physicians who practice near the border can apply for an extraterritorial license instead of a full Pennsylvania one.

Pennsylvania is the most in-person-skewed state in the cached pool: 24 listings, only 6 with remote flags, and registered-nurse roles account for 15 of them. Engagement language is sparse - three PRN mentions, one 1099 and one contract - which fits a market whose prescribing rules still assume a physical first examination.

Telehealth physician roles center on family medicine, urgent care, hospitalist coverage, and utilization review. Virtual panels let physicians treat patients across state lines from a home office, with schedule control that clinic-based practice rarely offers.
