Physician, Internal Medicine - Telemedicine Opportunity - DrHouse
...on both patient and provider experience. DrHouse is seeking board-certified Internal Medicine physicians to join our growing telemedicine team. This is a telehealth position ope…
Telehealth physician work tied to New York (NY). New York is a non-member of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, while payers must reimburse telehealth at in-person rates under Insurance Law section 3217-h. Virtual clinics, payer care teams, and health systems hire physicians for video visits, remote triage, and asynchronous care for New York patients.
New York pairs the country's densest hospital networks with a large Medicaid population, giving virtual-first programs a deep patient base across the state.
New York sits outside both compacts: it is a non-member of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact and is not among the 43 jurisdictions in the Nurse Licensure Compact, and the 2025 bills that would join the medical compact (S1505 and its Assembly companion A6362) were still in committee. A full New York license and registration remain the price of entry. Payers, meanwhile, must reimburse telehealth at the same rate as in-person care under Insurance Law section 3217-h, although that rate-parity provision is currently written to expire on April 1, 2028.
For prescribing, 10 CRR-NY 80.63, as amended by a Final Rule, is the provision to know: initiating buprenorphine for opioid use disorder requires an evaluation by a practitioner holding a valid DEA registration, and that visit may be conducted in person or by telehealth. The DEA's current temporary rule, which runs through December 31, 2026, sets the federal floor underneath that state requirement.
New York appears 25 times in the cached pool with 16 remote flags, and it is the one state where gig and salaried telehealth roles are advertised side by side: two listings carry 1099 language and one says W2, with titles like "1099 Telemedicine Nurse Practitioner | Flexible Schedule" sitting next to "Telehealth Nurse Practitioner | W2 FT". Nurse practitioners dominate the demand (15 listings), followed by physician assistants (8).
Telehealth physician roles center on family medicine, urgent care, hospitalist coverage, and utilization review. Virtual panels let physicians treat patients across state lines from a home office, with schedule control that clinic-based practice rarely offers.
