Telehealth registered nurse work tied to Illinois (IL). Illinois is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so nurses need an Illinois license. Illinois participates in the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact but is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state, so physicians can use compact credentials while nurses need an Illinois license. Telehealth coverage comes from 215 ILCS 5/356z.22, added by P.A. 102-104 effective July 22, 2021: it imposes no originating-site restriction beyond medical necessity and clinical appropriateness, bars penalties or reimbursement reductions aimed at clinicians who deliver care remotely, and is scored by the standard trackers as a payment-parity provision.

Federal DEA flexibility on remote controlled-substance prescribing applies through December 31, 2026.
